Croatia's first satellite, CroCube, has captured its first images of home.

Croatia's first satellite, CroCube, has successfully captured and transmitted its first images of Croatia from space. This marks a significant milestone for the country's space program.

The image, taken on January 28th, 2025, shows a cloud-covered view of Croatia, with the outlines of the land and mountain ranges visible. The satellite also captured images of Bulgaria.

CroCube is a small cubesat, measuring just 10 x 10 x 10 centimeters and weighing 1.1 kilograms. It was launched into orbit in December 2024 aboard a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket. The satellite is equipped with a camera and other sensors to collect data about Earth.

The CroCube mission is a project of the Croatian Society for Education Outside the Box, with the goal of promoting interest in science and technology in Croatia. The satellite's data and images will be made available to the public through a mobile app.
