Firefly Aerospace's Blue Ghost lunar lander, launched on January 15, 2025, aboard a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket, is currently orbiting Earth and en route to the Moon. As part of its mission, Blue Ghost has captured stunning images of Earth, including a rare lunar eclipse from its unique vantage point.
The spacecraft is equipped with 10 NASA science and technology instruments and is scheduled to land on the Moon on March 2, 2025. It will conduct research for one lunar day (14 Earth days) before lunar nighttime conditions end its operations.
This mission is part of NASA's Commercial Lunar Payload Services (CLPS) initiative, supporting the Artemis program's goal of returning astronauts to the Moon. Blue Ghost will provide valuable data about the lunar environment, contributing to future lunar exploration and deep-space research.
